BRITE Bus Stops Moving for Construction

BRITE Bus Stops Relocated for Construction on Route 250
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is beginning construction on a project that will improve safety and access for BRITE riders and pedestrians. The Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission (CSPDC) applied for the project through Virginia’s SMART SCALE program. It includes pedestrian, bus stop, and intersection improvements at three locations in the BRITE service area:
- Route 11 at Dick Huff Lane (Verona)
- Route 250 at Sangers Lane (Staunton)
- Route 250 at Lew Dewitt Boulevard (Waynesboro)
To keep riders safe and allow crews to work, BRITE will temporarily relocate bus stops at each location while construction is underway.
Route 250 at Sangers Lane
Construction will begin at Route 250 and Sangers Lane. Starting early next week (October 12-18), two 250 Connector stops will move a short distance:
- Route 250 WB / Sangers Ln will move west, toward the entrance of the Sleep Inn Staunton.
- Route 250 EB / Rowe Rd will move east, toward the output of Rowe Rd.
The bus stop signs will also be moved, so riders can look for the sign to find the new boarding location.
Duration
These stops will remain in their new locations until further notice. BRITE will notify riders in advance when construction begins at the other two locations and additional stops are relocated.
